Youth are often introduced to careers through guest speakers, career days, and field trips—but meaningful career exploration requires more than exposure. This interactive session explores how out-of-school-time professionals can design experiences that help young people connect their interests, skills, and identities to future education and career opportunities. Drawing from real-world examples in healthcare career pipelines, STEM programming, summer camps, and community partnerships, participants will learn how to move beyond traditional career exploration and create opportunities for youth to actively explore, experience, and envision themselves in a variety of careers. Participants will leave with practical strategies for designing hands-on activities, building meaningful partnerships, connecting enrichment programming to real-world careers, and creating intentional pathways that help youth move from “I’m interested” to “I can see myself there.”
