Description

This highly interactive and energetic workshop introduces and explores the power of intentionally incorporating developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed strategies to strengthen program quality and increase impact. In this session, we’ll explore the key brain structures related to executive functioning, emotion management, communication, and learning—and how they develop over time through adolescence. We’ll also unpack the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on the development and experience of our young people. Through small and large group activities, discussions, and reflections, participants will work to expand their understanding of positive youth development principles and develop their mindsets and skills related to brain-informed instructional strategies, trauma-informed practice, and how to facilitate engaging and reflective learning experiences.
