Speaker Bio
Megan Day is a passionate social worker and educator with a decade of professional experience. After receiving her bachelors of social work with minors in Spanish and psychology, she was accepted into Teach For America where she served as a high school English special educator in San Antonio, Texas for five years. Returning to her home state of Indiana after the pandemic, Megan assumed the role of bilingual family and community engagement specialist at Child Care Answers, the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) agency for central Indiana. In this work, she supported immigrant and non-English-speaking families with young children in accessing child care and other resources. When the manager of family engagement position was created at Early Learning Indiana, she partnered with CCRR specialists across the state to serve families with young children, offering training and guidance on linguistically and culturally responsive services as well as best practices for supporting low-income families. Megan completed her masters of social work practicum at Save the Children in Pristina, Kosovo, working at a macro level to support grant initiatives and policy monitoring for children and families. There, she saw firsthand what collectivism means and how we can create community unlike anything we have seen before.
