Description
Working memory is limited for everyone. Therefore, it is imperative that instruction be provided in ways that honor working memory constraints. In this session, we will explore Cognitive Load Theory and how explicit instruction can be used to help manage the amount learners feel overwhelmed. We will also examine meaningful ways to plan retrieval practice to increase the likelihood of retaining information. Moving from theory into practice, the session will include concrete ideas for application. Applicable across all grade levels and all content areas, the science of learning benefits everyone.
