Dr. Jamie Garwood brings more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience focused on youth development, literacy, and community impact. She has led initiatives such as launching a community-wide literacy campaign to close the 3rd grade reading gap and developing one of the nation’s largest Real Men Read mentoring programs. As Director of Education for United Way of Allen County, she evaluated tutoring and mentoring programs, designed logic models, and built measurement frameworks to strengthen program outcomes. Her expertise also includes assessing federal and state education grants, serving as an evaluator for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, and training with Cognia as a school accreditor. In addition to her nonprofit career, Dr. Garwood currently serves as Director of Ball State University’s Office of Charter Schools and was a founding member of the Indiana Charter School Board. She holds a Doctorate in Education Leadership, along with degrees in Sociology and Public Affairs with a focus on education and social welfare policy.
