Literacy does not only live in books. It lives in conversations, in curiosity, in the moments when young people feel safe enough to share their voice. In out-of-school time spaces, we hold a different kind of opportunity. We can create environments where language grows naturally, where reading connects to real experiences, and where every young person is seen as a communicator and a thinker.
This session offers a first look at a new set of literacy and language resources designed specifically for out of school time programs. Grounded in updated standards and shaped by the realities of practice, these resources are built to support the work you are already doing every day. You will be introduced to what is included, how the pieces connect, and the thinking behind their development. This is a space to step back, see the full picture, and begin considering how literacy can show up across your program in ways that feel natural and meaningful.
You will leave with a clear understanding of what is available, what is coming next, and how these resources can support stronger, more intentional learning environments for young people. Because when we expand how we think about literacy, we expand what becomes possible for youth.
