Tamika Zapolski, Indiana University School of Medicine
Supporting youth mental health is more important than ever, especially in afterschool and out-of-school programs where young people spend significant time building relationships, learning, and growing. In this interactive, hands-on session, Drs. Tamika Zapolski and Sally Fleming from IU School of Medicine/IU Health Riley, will share practical strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and crisis response frameworks to equip attendees with tools they can use immediately. Through guided activities, discussion, and practice, attendees will learn evidence-based techniques to better understand, support, and respond to youth experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, or suicidal crisis, while also building skills to strengthen their own mental well-being.
